Harukanaru Toki no Naka de (遙かなる時空の中で) is the second title in Japanese video game publisher KOEI's Neoromance (ネオロマンス) (female-targeted ren'ai (romance) video games) series. First released for the Sony Playstation in 2000, Harukanaru Toki no Naka de was designed with "a 'Japanese' aesthetic", "fantasy", and "refinement" in mind, and takes place in another world — a world and time that mirrors ancient and historical Japan. The characters are designed by Mizuno Tooko (水野十子), who also writes the manga series of the same title.

Harukanaru Toki no Naka de (called also Haruka, Harutoki for short) essentially consists of four games — 1, 2, 3, and 4 respectively — which involve a girl from the modern world who is mysteriously taken to the "other world" and given the role of Ryuujin no Miko (龍神の神子), the Priestess of the Dragon. She is asked to stop the the vengeful spirits plaguing the land and the chaos befalling the world, alongside the eight men chosen to be her Hachiyou (八葉), who are tasked with the role of protecting and aiding their Miko with powers bestowed upon them by the four guardian gods of the land: Seiryuu, Suzaku, Byakko, and Genbu. Despite the linked histories, recurring themes, and common voice cast, each game has its own distinct storyline and cast of characters.

A vast array of other releases like drama CDs, character songs, and secondary video games expands upon the games and their characters. The world of Haruka1, notably, includes a manga series, an anime series (sub-titled 八葉抄, "Hachiyoushou"), a full-length theater-released animated movie (sub-titled 舞一夜, "Maihitoyo"), and two live stage adaptations.

The manga series is currently being released by Hakusensha (白線社) in bi-monthly installments in one of its manga anthology magazines LaLa DX, and in tankoubon published under its Hana to Yume Comics (花とゆめコミックス) imprint. The manga is also being distributed in English by Viz Media in the US through its magazine Shojo Beat under the title "Haruka: —Beyond the Stream of Time—".
